When entering a new appointment in Outlook Calendar when I Save and Close I
get the error message "The reminder for "....." will not appear ;because the
item is in a foldeer that doesn't supportt reminders. Is this OK? Yes No

How do I put the appointment in a foldere that does support reminders.

It must be in your default Calendar for reminders to fire, unless you use a
third-party add-in.
