I have the full, professional version of XP, but I loaded it on top of the
Windows 98-SE that I had on my computer. I would now like to completely
remove everything on my computer and reload XP without the '98 underneath.
Where can I find instructions/explanations on how to do that?

System is running on an Intel Celeron 1.1 Ghz, with an 80 Gig hard drive,
768 megs of RAM.

Many thanks!

Max

The Windows XP CD is bootable and contains all the tools necessary
to partition and format your drive. Follow this procedure and allow
Windows XP to partition and format your drive:

NOTE: It would be best to physically disconnect all your peripheral hardware
devices, except for you mouse and keyboard, before installing XP.

1. Open your BIOS and set your CD Drive as the first bootable device.

2. Insert your Windows XP CD in the CD Drive and reboot your computer.
3. You'll see a message to boot to the CD....follow the instructions.
4. The setup menu will appear and you should elect to delete the existing
Windows partitions, then create a new partition, then format the primary
partition (preferably NTFS) and proceed to install Windows XP.

5. Clean Install Windows XP

6. After Windows XP is installed, visit the Windows Update website
and download the available "Critical Updates".

7. After installing the critical updates, be sure and visit the support website
of the manufacturer of the computer to download and install any
available Windows XP compatible drivers, such as video adapter
and audio drivers.

>its very simple. First make sure what is your boot

sequence in the bios. do you know how to do that ??.

Ok. here you go. Depending on what machine you have,
first restart the machine and on the initial post hit the
delete key to enter the bios. the look for boot options
or startup options. you will see all the drives and their
sequence of start up, normally is floppy drive first then
hard drive 0 then cd rom. you need to change the boot
sequence to start from the cd rom first, the hard drive 0
second and the floppy drive third. got it ?? then hit the
escape key to take you to the main menu and look for save
setting and exit.then place the xp cd into your cd rom
and when the computer reboots you will see "press any key
to boot from cd rom" and it will start the intallation
you will see a blue screen and on the bottom of the
screen you will see loading all the generic drivers, the
it will take you to the next screen with some option it
ask you if you want to install xp it you will also see
the eula agreement you need to press f8 to accept the
agreement. then itwill check to see if you have any
version of windows installed.then you will have more
options. it will ask if you want to delete the currnt
partition hit d then to delete hit L thee format the new
partition choose format using NTFS not the quick format
after that it will begin to format the drive it will take
a while, the it will start to copy the file necessary to
start window the it reboot the it will continue the
intalation then it will ask you for your cd key the
regional setting it will take you right trough the
intalation ok good luck.

write me when your done !!
