peahouse ... always start a new thread if you're asking a new question, that way everybody will see it.

Well as I am here now the answer is not really.

Look HERE on the right and I suggest Ubuntu for a novice ... you could always try our SuSE also.

Download as many "Live" CDs as you like and try them all ... you will get a better feel for that distro with non of the headaches of install un-install.

Go to any section that you think is relivent to your question ...
in this case it is relivent to Linux
click Linux and the first thing you see, top left, is "New Post" press it, give it a title and ask your question.

Now, go to this site http://distrowatch.com/ and bookmark it ... from there you can find every "distro" of Linux under the sun.

You download as many as you like but they need "burning" from their ISO file format to be read properly in your CD drive ... alternatively, get a CD that has been done for you ... Chelsea has one if you want ... but you can get loads for a few quid each of the net too ... go to WHSmiths ot Tesco and browse the Linux mags, most will have a CD/DVD of one form of Linux or another, but @ 5-6-7 quid a throw, bloody dear way of getting a CD.
