I have gotten the c0000218 error as it seems many people do. I've found how
to do a repair using the recovery console, but I'm having trouble. I use my
XP cd-rom to boot my computer and press R to start the recovery console. My
directions say that it will ask for an administrator password, but mine does
not (I don't have one set anyway.) But when I begin typing the first line "mp
tmp", all I get is "Access is denied." Any ideas how to fix this?!? I really
don't want to have to re-install altogether if I can help it because I've got
lots of info I don't want to lose. Please help!!!

The directions I'm attempting to follow are as follows:

When I just press enter, it comes up to c: again. The problem is when I first
type "md tmp" and it won't let me go any further without saying "access
denied".
