I recently put the HD from a broken advent into a HP with a u/s HD and on
boot it simply said the memory configuration had changed since last boot up
and continued with a new install with all the correct drivers etc. it gave
the choice of saving the 'my documents etc.' or a 'destructive' install,
e.g. reformat C: drive and install. This was a HD with the OS on the drive,
where you had to make your own restore disks when you got the laptop. (a
common thing now it seems). The only difference was the computer had a
Advent desktop wallpaper on boot up, easily changed.
I imagine, though not certain, the restore disk would have the same effect
