I appreciate the support (but I wasn't worried about Jim Macklin's
suggestion I was a dumb blonde).
The great thing about the Internet is that we can be shown for what we
really are in that our native "intelligence" (or not) shows up in our
command of the english language - here for all to see and judge for
themselves.

am able to (with your help) install a small footprint printer driver
suitable for the HP OJ D145 but thousands of others who follow in our
footsteps will also benefit from the knowledge gained from all of you
experts.
I am currently trying to decide whether to attempt ...
a) the corporate download from HP (specifically for the HPOJD145)
b) or the suggested HP download of the Bob-Headrick-suggested alternative
printer (specifically for the HP Deskjet 855c)
c_ or the #1-footnoted WinXP SP2 default printer driver (specifically for
the HP DeskJet 500c).
