Just clicked on that link and Opera 7 took me there...and there was no
re-direct. In fact...I'm still there. No banner ads in the corner
either...or anywhere ftm.

Dunno...can't duplicate it.

Same here with Avant.

You might update and run SpyBot Bill to see if you have any hijackers
on your system.

yep...will do that...Have run all the spy bots not too long ago, but
will give 'em another go. (At least I don't feel totally alone now.)

never mind...I just went to the directory for Opera 6...it has a folder
called 'programs' and under that 'plugins'..and in there a .dll called
'FDOperaPlugin'...I do not know why it decides that SOS's site calls it,
but it is convinced that I don;t have the full plugin, as it has this on
the GetRight page.

"There are some quirks about the plugins. Another option for adding
downloads to GetRight that works from any web browser is to Right click
on the link you want to download and pick the menu item to copy the URL
to the clipboard. Something like: "Copy Link Address to Clipboard" or
"Copy Link Location" or "Copy Shortcut". That will also trigger GetRight
to download the file."

Perhaps I DID at sometime have GetRight and the .dll is just a
leftover..

sorry for not looking deeper first.

and just for those who have morbid interest in these things *grin*...I
never knew till I did a "view source" that SOS page had an embedded
"welcome' .wav!....... When I changed to association in Opera prefs for
..wav to "open with Opera" and renamed the "FDOperaPlugin.dll" to
"FDOperaPlugin.xxx" the welcome sound now plays and there are no more
redirects!

Ain't technology fun?
