Hi Idris,
I don't think so. You will really have to get it up and be able to get the
desktop. Check the nicsettings:
Internal should be something like:
IP: 192.168.16.2
Subnet 255.255.255.0
GW: blank
DNS: 192.168.16.2
External:
IP: 10.0.0.2
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 10.0.0.3
DNS: 192.168.16.2
Check bindingorder: Network Connections, Advanced, Advanced, and make sure
the internal nic is on top.
On the external nic only TCP/IP should be bound. Advanced, DNS-tab, make
sure 'register in DNS' and 'primary suffix' are NOT checked.
External nic, TCP/IP, DNS-tab, make sure 'register in DNS' and 'primary
suffix' are checked.
DNS-server: make sure it is only listening to the server-IP (192.168.16.2)
and put the ISP-DNS-numbers in the tab Forwarders. On the properties of the
Forward and Reverse lookup zones, make sure that 'allow dynamic updates' is
set to yes.
Post in the microsoft.public.backoffice.smallbiz2000 newsgroup tomorrow if
you want to get the proper and fast answers. (I won't be around tomorrow
during the day.).
It can take an awfull long time to boot in normal mode if the nics ares not
set right. You can't repair this in any other way I'm afraid.

machine takes an age to boot up in this mode, with a whole bunch of
services not running. I have left the server to boot overnight in 'normal'
mode. If it fails to boot by morning I will run in 'directory repair' mode
and post the results of the icw and ipconfig commands. I have checked one
of your previous postings with regard to DNS errors, when i run the DNS
tests the recursive test is failing. Any ideas what this might indicate ?
