I am getting these messages too, and then some -
including 'Failed to execute regsvr32.exe'. Then setup
fails and gives me the option to 'undo changes' - which I
do. I tried it on a few different 'test' web servers, all
with the same results.
As for our production servers, the majority of them are
webservers running IIS, and I am not about to uninstall
IIS in order to install SP4.
I have heard of this happening to others as well, so
there's obviously an issue between SP4 and IIS - perhaps a
microsoft tech support person should look into this?
I have tried to contact Microsoft about this, but keep
getting routed to the sites where I can either provide
feedback on their website, pay for support (why should I
pay to tell them about a possible problem with their
product?) or am routed to their Microsoft Wish list site -
What? I wish SP4 would work properly on our servers?
I am not sure what the problem is, but it is not going on
our production servers anytime soon.
If you find out what is going on, could you let me know?
And if I find out, I will repost to your message.
