Try the Windows 2000 driver, if one is available. I doubt it will
work with Vista, but XP should be no problem. I have an old Umax
1220P (parallel port) scanner that runs fine under XP that way.
BTW, Umax doesn't give out drivers but only sells them, so to get them
for free you have to use
www.umax.co.uk, which is Umax's support for
Europe and is run by a separate company.
I miss the days when scanners were available for almost nothing, after
rebate. Now the best deals tend to be for all-in-ones, and sometimes
if you buy a laptop or LCD monitor, a Canon all-in-one is included
free, after rebate.
