Pats,

Curious - what's the business decision that's driving this?

Its the standardization of Microsoft products through out the Company.
Management says it will be easier to administer and all softwares will work
on them.
Not my decision but i have to implement this.

Pats,

May not make any difference, but it's never that simple nor that true.
What may sound good on paper rarely works out that good in practice.

I consulted for a Fortune 15 company a few years back, and they thought
this was a good idea, too. Didn't work out that way. They should have
integrated, not substituted.

Cost them considerably more than projected, even with MS' own project
managers. They ended up firing a bunch of people who were so
vociferous about the need to rip out everything and replace it with MS.

It's not a bash, it's a fact. Even the most hardedned MS proponents
understand that MS isn't the end-all and be-all of everything technology.

So management is blinded by the Redmond vision, or are they being
open-minded about what's best for the company?

There's nothing more frustrating for the techies than to see technology
torn out simply because of one person's 'preference' and/or ignorance.

I totally agree with you. It's a bunch of idiot's who suggest MS will solve
all their problems and progress the company in right direction. My boss is
the biggest moron in the bunch who thinks Novell is outdated and root cause
of network and software problems. My boss thinks that everyone is migrating
so we should also do it
I donot see a single reason to migrate from NDS fo AD. We are running
smoothly and cohesively with all applications without rebooting or applying
patches everyday.
