Probably due to the capture device. I hooked my Hi8 Sony to a new Sony
digital camcorder and recorded onto a digital tape in the new one. But I
wasn't at all happy with the results. Yes, it played but lacked quality.

I had them connected via standard RCA cables, which accounted for the loss
of quality.The recording will work, but it'll drop quality to do it if the
bandwidth of the connection isn't sufficiently fast - like a firewire
connection.
