As BillW50 said.
I've never used system restore, saw no real use for it. Instead, I use
ERUNT set to keep the last seven registries and I periodically make an image
of the drive ("periodically" could be as frequent as weekly or as
infrequently as quarterly depending upon what changes I had made to the
system).
Restoring an ERUNT registry will get me back to square one with the
registry; restoring an image will get me back to everything.
