First it sounded something like
<news:Xns93A064E9BFF96lc70@130.133.1.4>, but what bob really said
was:

It's Swedish. About two months ago my WMP 6.4 (Finnish version) changed
into English one. Properties say it's Finnish. I have no idea what did
it, unless some dll-file or something. Would be interesting to know.

Any chance that the original poster downloaded kernel32.dll on line?
(I'm using a different machine now, but I think that was the kernel
file.). It caused all sorts of Windows areas to come up in Swedish,
like the buttons in Ctrl-Alt-Del even though the window contents
stayed in English.

Nope, haven't download kernel32.dll, but it's interesting to hear people
have had related troubles. Maybe it IS some other dll. It's weird though
it would just affect the one program. I wonder how I'd track down the
specific culprit. If I could search Properties of all dll files on my
system, looking for a Swedish version, maybe that would work. But I'm
not sure there's a way to do that.

Hey, just thought of something...Maybe if I run Dependency Walker and see
what dlls WMP is dependent on, I can narrow down the search that way.
Worth a try... Thanks for the lead.

Quoting from a text:
"MUI (Multilanguage User Interface)
Windows XP Professional, Windows 98 and Windows Millennium has this
function (also known as PLUGUI)", probably Win2000 too, but not XP
home edition.

After installing a certain language based update it sounds like it is
possible to reinstall the PLUGUI support.

Maybe searching for the terms PLUGUI, IEPLUGUI and MUI on Microsoft
could help. (I cannot search myself because of a too slow modem and
already too high telephone bill.)

Possibly involved files:
Windows/System/msimsg.dll, and SHDOCLC.DLL

I have the same problem after updating my win98 in english with a
swedish IE and OE 6 update.
I prefer english menus even though I am swedish.

If you find a solution, write about it, I want to find it too.
