As I have a service contract I called the tech people and was given this
instruction and now I have the drive back again
I was told to do this : -
Go to START - search - regedit
Then select : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
select: SYSTEM
select: CURRENT CONTROL SET
select: CONTROL
select: CLASS
select the line that begins with: 4D36E965..etc
then look in the right hand pane for the line containing 'upper etc' and
DELETE this line
then exit the system edit
restart your system and the DVD/CD drive wll now be shown in the 'COMPUTER'
screen
THIS WORKS AS I HAVE DONE IT TWICE NOW
