It means that it is copyrighted, meaning that you can take legal action
against anyone who copies it. This is the same for any copyrightable
material. It isn't possible to prevent people from copying material;
otherwise, no copyright laws would be necessary.

Not automatically unless you put the little copyright notice someplace, or
the little C inside the circle. Either is legally usable to designate a
copyright.
