Gosh fella, you didn't say what operating systems you're running. It is
assumed that at least *one* of them is Vista since you're posting in a
Vista newsgroup, but "desktop x64 to my laptop x86" doesn't tell us much,
especially because in networking it doesn't matter about 64 or 32-bit.

You need to read the information I gave you more carefully and with some
common sense. Obviously it is general information and obviously if you
don't have XP, that part won't be applicable to you. Again, read over
Section C. If you have the same name user account but different passwords,
THEY DON'T MATCH. And that is why you are asked to supply credentials.

The Workgroup is set in the same place in Vista as it is in XP. Or you can
type in "Workgroup" in Vista's Help & Support. However, you issues are
caused because you don't have the same user accounts/passwords on both
machines.

I already gave you the answer to that. If you had set up your user accounts
and passwords correctly, you would not be having these difficulties. Try
again.
