When you have 2 HD you can place new programs onto the "D" drive during the install procedure.
At this point i would suggest a disk clean up of "C" followed by a defrag. Then see how much room is left.If still very little you can remove some programs that you use very little and reinstall them onto the "D" drive.Pay attention during the install it does usually give you a choice.

| My computer has 20G of hard drive mamory; however, the
| drive C only has 8 g available. I do not know what the
| function of the D drive is for, but I do know that it has
| 11 g of free space. Today I have been receiving error
| messages from my computer indicating that the space in
| the c hard drive is running low, 199mg. How do I use the
| free space in the other drive, what do I need two drives?
