I've been having the same problems with a Maxtor 6Y080L0 80GB
DiamondMax Plus 9 ATA133 7200rpm 2MB HDD
and a Maxtor 6L080J4 80GB DiamondMax Plus 9 ATA133 7200rpm 2MB HDD

you might feel like trying the uber BIOS:

(make sure you grab the right one)

no joy to be found anywhere...I'm getting a Maxtor 120 Gb ATA133
7200rpm 8MB tomorrow. I'm going to rig it up all by itself and see
what I get.

Thanks, I'm going there now. ... just downloaded everything under the sun
and will try them next.

The more data I collect the more stubborn the questions become:

Is it an nForce2 problem?
Is it a Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 problem?
Is it an an Asus BIOS problem?
