Evening all,

Just got myself 2 Western Digital SATA 120GB drives and a
Highpoint Rocket RAID 1540 PCI controller.

I'm not too clued up on stripe sizes though, which would
be best to improve Windows boot speed and general tasks
like browsing folders and loading defualt programs like
Windows Media, Movie Maker, IE6, etc?

My Options are:

16KB
32KB
64KB
128KB
256KB
512KB
1024KB
2048KB

I really appreciate this. Also, how much impact would
cluster size have on this? I think the default is 4KB,
but would a larger one speed things up? What do you
recommend?

Thanks, Michael

For raid info go to:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro...s/dm_raid5.asp
The related topics should have the info on raid.

Normally it's recommended using a big block size (approximately 64kb)
for computers working a lot with video, sound and pictures.
It would be proper using a block size on 32kb, for windows/gaming
systems.
Working with small files (e.g. on special FTP servers) use a block
size on approximately 16kb. That's what I would have done.

Anyway the block size is only an adjustment of the system, and
there'll be no noticeable difference talking performance. If you doubt
what to do just set the block size on 32kb. However it's not
important.

This is just another opinion.

Good Luck
