I have the dreaded horizontal cyan lines problem. Without giving me the
"your printhead is duff" answer can anyone shed light on why the cyan lines
are mainly around the 1cm from the photo top? My printing uses borders, no
centering, and "no color adjustment" as this is done by Photoshop.

I have had a 1280 with this problem.
I strongly advise you not replace the print head. If you want to stay with
the 1280 it is still, but probably not for long, available for new and I
would get one right now.
Before you do look into the Espon R1800: if you like the color of the 1280
you will be surprised thay you may prefer the 1800 palette.
My experience was that the blue lines actually come and go randomly but
increase in frequency and density as the print head fails further. As the
print head is failing they tend to occur at the beginning, clear in the
middle and recur at the end, possibly reflecting differential speeds of the
print head moving across the paper and the flow of ink through the print
head.

Bmoag,

I read somewhere that the cyan line problem may not occur if I let the
printer do its own colour management. This is not an option I would like
to use. As for buying another one I'm reluctant to spend £250 on a product
which might soon exhibit the same problem
