I paid 49.95 plus tax 12 days ago for ETrust armour (both EZ antivirus and
internet Firewall combination. It's on my credit card statement). when I
attempt to download the latest virus detection definition files by clicking
autodownload (which I could always do previously) instead of the usual check
to see if my files are up to date and then if not doing the latest download,
I'm taken to their web site where it insists I need to renew my yearly
subscription. As far as I know, a year is 365 days duration, NOT 12 DAYS !
Have they lost their minds. How do I contact these assholes and straighten
this out. Please help.

I'd first contact your Credit Card (CC) company and put the purchase price in "dispute" and
write a letter to the CC company explaining why you put the charge in dispute. Then I'd
contact the company, explain that the cost of the product is in dispute with the CC company,
and demand a refund.

I have used EZ Trust for 3 or 4 years and they have been excellent to
deal with!! Did you put your two licence numbers into the program??
They are a bummer to sort out, but E-Trust helped me on that the first
time.

The very same thing happened to me last year.......which is why I am
telling you this. If you want the instructions, I will mail them to
you. I see I have a couple of addresses for their tech support, but
they are for Canada......you will find an address on their site. They
do get back quite quickly.

The following is the site given by them to tell you how to insert your
licence key and customer numbers......and you should have received this
email from them confirming your purchase and giving you the two numbers
and the below link.

No, as soon as you put the charge in dispute (FTC regulations) you are not responsible for
any charges and you can't be charged interest. So, CCC dispute first, contact vendor
second.

Wow, just imagine the interest on $50 for a month.
Boggles the mind !
Really though, why not try for a day or three to resolve the problem with
the merchant first.
I think ETrust will make it good. Some faith in others is good.
They have email and probably a telephone number you can use.
I think it would be the easiest way to handle the matter. Not every company
is out to 'screw' you.
I still think that you are putting the 'cart before the horse' in this case.
To each his own.

Your points are well made. However, if a resolution is obtained one just needs to contact
the CC company and have them remove the charge from dispute mode. This is a major advantage
of using a CC in general for making purchases.
