I installed a promise ultra 133 card in my dell 4600 running xp home when I
hooked up my cd rom drive to it is not recognized. Is there some kind of
bios setting that I have to do. The reason I am trying to use the promise
card so that I can separate my DVD burner from the cd rom thank -you

Please click the Newsgroups button on the Outlook Express toolbar, type
hardware in the search box, look for windowsxp.hardware in the list, select
it, click go to and post your question to that group.

Thank you.

That Promise card ONLY runs/recognizes hard drives. It will not run CDs,
DVDs, etc.

Why use promise, you have 2 IDE channells,2 units to each, set dvd or cd
as a slave drive to C: drive(xp installed on),then set as slave, set C: as master
thru the jumper pins.
