What a tight little loop.

XP Pro, latest everything. ASUS a7m266. BIOS was latest as of 8 mos.
back, can't get to MOBO right now to check it.

XP and applications are on the AT100 disc on the ATA port of the
Promise card so that the on board IDEs are for the DVD and CDROM
burners.

I came across a matched pair of 40 GB Hitachi 7200 RPM ATA100 drives.
Jumpered both to master. Put Highpoint ATA/SATA adapters on, wired it
up. Planned to use the RAID for my swap file and as a recording
scratch file. Promise card finds all three discs.

But....

The bootrom can't find the OS (Bios set to SCSI - it's either that,
LAN or IDE.) It seems to assume that the OS will be on the SATA.

I've had other Promise raid cards, and you could always drop down into
the card BIOS to set up whatever you needed.

What's the path to implement boot from IDE on the Promise card?

Tanks.

What does your users guide recommend?

If you don't have one get in touch with the Promise support team and make
sure you have it sent by email so that you can read it.

Bios is 1007, dated 2002/04/30, is latest on the ASUS North America
site, but this is not likely the issue!

Also, you should probably set it to IDE for boot device. You may also
need to check different BIOS Settings. I don't know about you, but
whenever I have used a PCI HD Controller Card, it has its own BIOS that
comes up after your motherboard's BIOS. See if there is something for that.
