Here are two things to try.
1) try scanning in safe mode.
2) It's been mentioned by others that a large result of a first scan will
cause issues with succeeding scans. I've noted that the program describes
that it estimates scan time based on preceding scans--so I guess one of the
things it does on a 2nd scan is look at the report from Scan 1 to estimate
time.
I'd recommend deleting that first scan result to see whether that allows the
later scan to proceed:
Tools, Spyware Scan, spyware scan history. Highlight a scan and hit
truncate spyware scan history, or, for the first one, delete this spyware
scan history.\
