problem with Yahoopops

ver 0.6050112
under windows 98 se
browser Firefox 0.9.2

I usuall have no probles with Yahoopops.

But lately the programme keeps asking for my username. Retyping it, and
the password just leads to the same demands.

Any idea what might be wrong.

In addition, I can't seem to change the deafault mailer. I've tried
making Hotmail the default in OE, but on closing and restarting OE it
still looks to Yahoo. On closing Yahoopops - OE still looks for Yahoo
when Hotmail is the default.

I have set things back to the way they were, but I still can get
Yahoopops to work.

Any advice greatfully received

A

Try upgrading. Latest version is 0.7.3
For some reason i can't access their sourceforge home page at the moment,
but you can download YPOPs, as it is now called, from:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Interne...ahooPOPs.shtml

Cheers,
Ben

I have the same problem when I try to sign in sometimes. When it won't
let me in I just click on "mail" or "yahoo" on the top bar and it then
goes to my account.

I do notice that after closing yahoo and going off line it takes a
full minute or so before anything I try to open on my computer will
open. I don't what causes that.

Dave

' I just click on "mail" or "yahoo" on the top bar and it then
goes to my account. '

Which bar do you mean?

Thanks for responding. I still can't get in. Maybe I will have to
upgrade

Maybe technicaly it isn't a "bar", I dont' know what it's called but
it's at the top of the page and you can choose from things like
"e-mail", "yahoo", "my yahoo", etc. I just click on "e-mail" and it
then goes to my mail. This usually happens after I return to Yahoo
after leaving a few hours before but didn't sign out. The page comes
up wanting me to verify my password, but if I do it just keeps
repeating the password request, so I just click on "e-mail" and it
will go right to it then.

Are you on a slow download or something? Why don't you want to upgrade. I'm
pretty sure that it will fix your problems. Yahoo are always changing the
way you have to log in, and so ypops as it is now called needs to change as
well.

Cheers,
Ben

I am on a slow connection, but I don't mind upgrading. I am trying to
find out what's wrong.

I didn't know that Yahoo are 'always changing the way you have to log
in'.

Yes, ypops will have to change as well.

As a matter of interest, when I use Yahoo mail at Yahoo mail, I login
in the same way that I have always logged in?

Thanks for responding - looks like an upgrade

Best wishes

In your yahoopops settings, what have you got in the advanced security
settings?
https/md5/plain

Ben

You have great insight

I have just found that moving from md5 to https apears to have solved
my problem

I don't know why md5 should suddenly be causing me a problem

Any thoughts

Sp.

If you switch to plain text, and then back the MD5 apparently it works
again.
There is a YPOPs forum here:
http://yahoopops.sourceforge.net/ind...=viewforum&f=2
and a thread about this topic here:
http://yahoopops.sourceforge.net/ind...ewtopic&t=1997

Cheers,
