I assembled a PC with the following items:
Intel D865GBF Motherboard
Intel Pentium 4 2.8GHz CPU
Hynix PC3200 DDR 400 MHz DDR 256MB Memory
Seagate 7200 rpm 40GB hard disc drive
Sony 52X32X52 CD-RW drive

Loaded my system with Windows 2000 Professional. Started
surfing with my USB Cable Modem. 2 terrible things
happened.

1. When I hit a site that has difficulty assessing, I get
the usual "This page cannot be displayed" message.
Thereafter, I will lose my connection and need to restart
to be able to surf again.

2. My system can even restart by itself when I simply
click on an address in my favorite list.

Update to Service Pack 4 and the problem persisted.

Downgraded to Windows 98 Second Edition and I was able to
surf without any problems.

Upgraded to Windows 2000 Professional and the same problem
came back.

Will be trying Windows XP Home Edition soon. Don't know if
there will be a problem.

What is wrong with Windows 2000? What settings did I set
wrongly?

Please help.

Are u affected by gaobot virus? ( affected system WinNT, W2k, Wxp )
It will amend your hosts file and which casue many web page can;t load.

You may go to system32\drivers\etc\hosts to have a look.
