Problem: Same messages show up as unread message every 2 or 3 weeks.

I am using outlook 2000 with internet e-mail, no exchange server. Every 2 to 3 weeks outlook 2000 client down loads the messages as unread. Now I have 4 copies of each message along with thousands of junk email messages. How can I stop the outlook client from downloading same messages over and over again

Please Help
