i got this message a couple of days ago:

Follow the steps in the Knowledge Base (KB) article to solve the problem
with Windows Vista

This problem was caused by Windows Vista, which was created by Microsoft
Corporation.

Solution

To view details about how to fix this problem, click this link:
http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=938979 This link will take
you to a Microsoft Support Knowledge Base (KB) article. Follow the steps in
the article to fix your computer problem.

i went through the whole process but after downloadin the 32-bit version it
said that it doesn apply to my system.....does anyone know how to solve this
or if this is important at all???

Eliza,

In most cases it means one of two things. It doesn't apply to your
system because your system does not have the same or similar
software/hardware configurations as those who suffer the most from the
problem or it doesn't apply to your system because it is already installed.
Have you checked your installed updates to see if KB938979 is already
installed? Also, sometimes Microsoft incorporates an existing update or fix
into a subsequent update, thus eliminating the need of the previous update
or fix.
