I'd appreciate a suggestion for an inexpensive printer (no all-in-one) for
XP Home SP-2. The HP Deskjet 1000 I got a few months ago was a disaster;
I'm hesitant to get another HP.

TIA

B & W preferred (cheaper?)

Inkjet preferred (cheaper)

Small

The latter

Brother, hands down. Superb software, they run like tanks, supplies are
cheap and readily available.

i would agree that supplies be cheap and readily available. What ever

out.

Got two Brother HL-2040's that I placed in the hands of relatives which
BOTH died with the same problem - paper jams after the first sheet. Went
through all the "fix it yourself" web sites and never came up with a fix
that really mattered.

Instead I went for the low-end HP in one case, and a Dell 1130 ($89 at
Micro Center) in the other.
