I have a Dell 8200 PC with Windows XP. I recently rebuilt
my PC from scratch. After I copied back my 25GB of my
music (copies of my CD collection in wma format). WMP9
finds all my music but when I try to play any song all I
see is a "opening media" message at the bottem and then
nothing happens. I then thought I did somehting wrong
during the reinstall so I formatted my hard drive and
tried again. Same thing happens...I press "Play" and
nothing happens. Please help....thank you

Hello,

Did you copy protect any of the music before you rebuilt
your system?

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. Yes I did
copy protect my music. I am against piracy with is why I
wanted to protect my music. was it a bad idea that I did
so?

Hello,

No, it wasn't bad that you copy protect your music. It's
just that WMP 9 might not play the music unless you have
a license to play it. I don't know truly how it works
when you copy protect your own music, as I haven't done
it to my CDs. Look at these articles on Microsoft's
Knowledge Base: 297746 and 308638.
