I use ADSL broadband to connect Internet via PPPoE, it was work well
days ago, but recently when I try to connect, it give me a error 720
ago and ago. I tried:
use netsh to reset tcp/ip config
reinstall network interface card driver
uncheck all protocols like ipx other than tcp/ip
a registry clean, virus scan,
all those did nothing can help me...

my pc is thinkpad t42, I can connect ethernet in my office, another
thinkpad can connect use my ADSL connection.

Do I need to re-install windows to fix the fault?

Hi
The PPPOE problems is one of the Best reason to buy a Cable/DSL Router (even
if you have one computer), and let the Router take care of the PPPOE (it
actually keeps the connection alive in hardware). Even the DSL's ISPs got
tired of the PPPOE software that they provide, and many of them give now,
for the same charge, a free Modem/Router combo.

Thanks for your reply, Jack.

It's very sad that I can not find a router now.
I used have a router and it works fine to connect via pppoe. But the
router gone away now.
I think there must be something wrong with my operation system, or tcp/
ip config.

I installed a linux distro, Ubuntu, make dual boot with xp, use "pon
dsl-provider" to make a connection, thereis nothing wrong.
