Running Vista Ultimate 32-bit w/Sp1

Just trying to do simple pop mail with roadrunner (E-Mail Removed)

This machine was XP SP3 that was upgraded to Vista. Windows Mail brought in
the OE6 account settings. Can send emails but get timeout when receiving.

I deleted email account and recreated. I even when thru RR tech support to
ensure that I had my setting correct. Cut/paste pop3 and smtp server names
to ensure no typeos. RR does not want secure authentication. Uses default
SMTP port 25 and POP3 port 110, no SSL connection. RR tells me it is a
windows mail problem. And I beleve them as this email account worked fine
the same day when the same machine was XP before the Vista upgrade.

Any suggestions?

I'm stuck. Does Outlook from Office XP run on vista?

Subject 'adf', Account: 'pop-server.neo.rr.com', Server:
'smtp-server.neo.rr.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error
Number: 0x800CCC19

Outlook should work fine. Also try Windows Live Mail http://get.live.com.

You may have a corrupt message on the server.
Try logging onto the Roadrunner webmail site and delete any suspicious
messages.
https://webmail.neo.rr.com/

Or, you might try the newer Windows Live Mail, which is the replacement for
Windows Mail.

Outlook 2003 works fine on vista.

I also just set up this roadrunner email account on another machine (running
XP and outlook) - this email account works fine there. Something with Vista
does not like outbound emails .

Microsoft promises that Windows 7 will be less annoying than Vista. I read
this in the paper today. Run the installation program as Administrator.
Again, Outlook should work fine too. I have been told that the OS version,
Windows Mail, hasn't had any meaningful development done to it for two
years.

Error 0x800CCC19 is a time-out. That type of error is usually caused
by interference from a non-compatible antivirus program.
I know you said you uninstalled Norton antivirus, but make sure you
follow that up by using their debris removal tool:
http://service1.symantec.com/Support...5033108162039\

Norton always leaves a lot of troublesome debris behind.
