I have Windows 2000
My Norton is up-to-date as it spotted the blaster

I have done a search on Google and they all point to the same thing

I had blaster and I removed it, As soon as I up date Win200 to SP3 or 4 my
PC keeps rebooting even when I am not logged on

I have been told I have either Nachi, Swen or Welchia..... I have none of
these and have downloaded the fix progs fro Norton and ran them and they
detected nothing

I have no SVCHOST file in my System32/wins folder or Dllhost.exe file

I have no rpcpatch or RpcTftpd in my registry

and I have updated all updated and patches from Microsoft

why oh why does my PC keep rebooting when I upgrade to SP4 ??

thanks

Hi,

This may seem like a mindless nonsence soution but, Symantec's Norton
Anti-Virus is buggy! Try Kaspersky or F-Secure! My personal
recommendation! You can download an evaluation of F-Secure internet
security 2003 from www.F-Secure.com It's excellent. I am beta testing
the 2004 version right now.

Best of luck!

Ian.

Go to www.sophos.com/support/desinfection and get the removaltools there.
They will also clean the registry.
Check if the ms03-039 patch is installed.

Let's be honest about Norton Anti-Virus!

Can anyone say anthing possitive about it's detection statistics besides
the fact that they are poor! Take away the pretty interface [bloated]
and you're left with a lack lusture scanning engine, poor heuristics
technology, desperate support and stability issues, not to mentioned the
resource requirements!!

Symantec is all about marketing. Take away that and the underlying
technology is not very impressive at all!

Put that in your pipe and smoke it Symantec!

Regards,

Ian

Have you checked the system event log to see whether the reboots are due to
a crash, and whether crash details are being recorded in the event log?

Proof statement? Facts, data? There's a lot about NAV to not like, but
detection?

Install a firewall. It may be that repeated blaster type probes from the net
are crashing your system. Try the free Zone Alarm (http://www.zonealarm.com).

Come on, admit it! Deep inside you are really a NAV fan. Come out of the closet and say it...
"Hi, my name is Ian... and I love Norton!"
