Passing parameters to calssic ADO from .NET?

Greetings,

I'm using a classic ADO compo.(data layer) in my vb.net project that
takes ,among other parameters, 'Short'(8-bit in vb6) and String
datatypes of one of its methods.

Should I convert my vb.net 'Short' (16-bit) and String datatypes when
I pass them??
