I have Outlook 2007 and am using Windows Vista. I have been trying to add an
email account to my outlook for about a week. I can received emails but
cannot send. I get the following message when trying to send the test email:

Send test e-mail message: The operation timed out waiting for a response
from the sending (SMTP) server. If you continue to receive this message,
contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).

I have no problems sending from other email accounts in Outlook. I can use
the same settings and send from my Pocket PC.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have the SMTP setting correct? Are you using an antivirus scanner to
scan outgoing email?

I had read an earlier reply about uninstalling the antivirus and making sure
no email settings were checked so I did that. My smtp are set according to my
empoyers specifications. It works for a coworker who is using Outlook 2003.

yes. a coworker took my info and tried it on her outlook 2003 and it worked
perfectly. She sent me screen shots of exactly what she did - it was exactly
what I was doing. I tried sending from both my laptop and desktop and
with/without PC Cillin installed.
