Outlook 2007 pst problem, Scanpst.exe won't work

I'm in a panic. My outlook database suddenly became inaccessible, and the
error message recommended I run the Inbox repair tool. After finally finding
scanpst, I ran it (it took about 1 hour). The problem was not fixed. I got
an new error message: "Outlook.pst is in use and cannot be accessed..."

{When I could not find scanpst, I found a 3rd party product called Stelllar
Pheonix, ran the "free" download, then ran the solution, and was steamed to
find it only recovered the message headers before forcing you to buy the
product, which I did. Maddeningly, the program would not authenticate
online, forcing me through a convoluted manual registration that ultimately
required that I send a fax oversees. After I finally found scanpst, I ran
it and got the "in use" message. I then deleted Stellar and the "outlook
recovered pst" file it created during the demo version run. I plan to charge
back my Stellar purchase.]

Things I have tried since finding scanpst thus far:
renewed Norton and ran scan, no viruses or problems

-ran scanpst again, twice
-defragmented hard drive
-compressed pst file
-ran scan pst again
-latest run of scanpst said "no errors found"
-restarted and rebooted 5-6 times
-"cannot access" error still appearing

My pst file is large. 4.06 GB. Compression reduced its size on disk to
2.85 GB. I set up a new Personal Folders pst file and am now able to send
and receive email. However, I am not able to properly access old email,
reply to things that need replying to, can't use datebook, can't use address
book, etc.

Can anyone out there help me?

Rock

I have met the same problem some days before. I found a good tool
called Advanced Outlook Repair. You can download a free demo version
at http://www.datanumen.com/aor/aor.exe . I think it is a useful
repair tool for you. It is easy to recover your PST file by using its
wizard. It is a powerful tool to recover messages, folders and other
objects from corrupt or damaged Microsoft Outlook PST files.

Detailed information about Advanced Outlook Repair can be found at
