Outlook 2000 won't save appt or contact

I'm on XP home and recently had to repair my PST due to the over 2 gig problem. Since then I can use the calendar ant it appears to work correctly but when I hit save, the appointment appears momentarily and then dissapears. It does tell me that it conflicts with an appointment when I try to save another appointment using the same time and date.

Contacts: Current contacts display and I can update them but when I try to add a new contact the information is saved but the display box is blank.
