Hi all!

I'm fully aware that this is quite a bit off-topic.
But you all seem to be a knowledgeable and helpful bunch, so:

My problem is that I have a dying HD.
Therefore I wonder how one can make a disk (partition) bootable with
w2k.
Since our friends in redmond decided it should not be as easy as
format/s any more.
And while we're at formatting, how do I set the size of the MFT a bit
bigger than standard (to avoid fragmenting)
And when that is done. What's the best way to copy the all the files
from disk 1 to disk 2

Easiest way is to use a program like GHOST to totoally copy one drive to
another. The new drive will be bootable, and ghost can even resize the
partitions during the operation.

Yes, I did this with another disk a while ago (using "PowerQuest Partition
Magic"), but it left the partition in a state where defrag (diskkeeper)
can't access the disk beyond analyze. (it says that the disk has been
changed since the program was started)
I thought initializing the disk manually and actually copying all the files
on it one by one would make sure everything got right.

I tried copying the partition with PQ's Partition Magic, but it still
couldn't boot from the new partition after I added it to boot.ini (it
immediately reboots again,like if I had pressed the resetbutton)
After that I decided to try a Backup and Restore procedure, but it still
didn't make the new partition bootable.
What might I be doing wrong?
