I am developing a client management database and I have several command buttons set to open word. What I need is for the buttons to open word directly to the specific word document template that relates to each command button. Any help in figuring out how do this would be greatly appreciated

And...when the template is opened...what records do you want merged?

I would suggest you give my word merge example a try...as all the hard work
has been done.

It allows you to select a template..and "merge" the current record you are
looking at to word doc.

Might just be exactly what you are looking for.

Hi Alber

Nice to see someone from home answer my question. What I have is a form for keeping track of clients that I deal with and I have a mail merge set up to enter the different information needed into each letter. What I am trying to do is have the command button that starts word open word to the specific document template. The reason I am doing this is to send customized form letters to individual clients that I deal with using the different templates that I have set up. Also others in my branch office will be using the same system and I don't want them having to search all over the place to find the letter templates

Give my example a try...it does just what you want....

The example I have is VERY easy to try out..as it has data and is "ready" to
go.

It is designed for writing and making personable template letters from a
database....what more could you want?
