Is there a Notepad replacement program that has a spell checker built
in? Or a stand alone spell checker that can be used with Notepad?

Thanks.

I know it's not the answer you're looking for but it might just help.
And it's free, quick and effective if your content is going out on the
web.

A few weeks ago I needed to load the Google tool bar for another
purpose and last week I noticed it had an on-line spell check that
works for ANY open form so I gave it a try.

Now I've used many spell checkers over the years from stand alone, to
MS Word and Word Perfect and even OO lately. I've also use several
on-line for mail etc and most are a pain in the ass. Yahoo is slow and
clunky and Blogger steals all my line terminations from my pasted post.
The rest I won't even bother talking about.

BUT!

This Google thing is amazingly simple and effective. I've used it for
everything lately and the experience just keeps getting better and
better. I've even started pasting off-line things into a web form just
to use it them paste them back. It's that good.

No, I don't work for Google and a lot of their products aren't that
great.

But this one is.

WordTabs 3.30 by Skip Bremer has a built-in spell checker. Unfortunately the
author stopped development on this program years ago, but it remains a great
editor with many excellent features. I have happily used it for years as my
Notepad substitute. You can get it here:

Give it a look. Hope this helps.

I find most editors either extremly simple, or with tools aimed towards
codeing.

Not may, or actually only one that I could find is aimed towards creative
writing. That is Copywriter. Unfortunately installation doens't work on my
pc.

I'm still looking for a good creative writers editor (see thread below)

I use 'cnotepad' from Cetus.

I also use cwordpad, for those times where all the bells and whistles
are not needed.
