i have heard of such, but where do i get the download
from,, it has many features too,

Dave,

There is nothing called Notepad XP version. The default notepad.exe
application that ships with Windows is standard. Though the notepad which is
present in XP has some more features than there used to be in Windows 9X.

There are several Notepad editions. Have your friend check properties. In
the meantime, there is one version on line 271 (right hand side):
