I have office 2003 on my wife's compaq running XP home edition. Her 1 year
subscription to Norton expired and I purchased the update on line. Ended up
getting Norton 360 version 2. Had problems downloading the product and
getting it to run. When I finally got it loaded I had problems with Outlook
not opening up more than 1 or two times without re-booting the computer.
When the computer first boots up Outlook opens and works just fine. If I
leave the computer running for a while (maybe a couple of hours) then come
back Outlook will not open. I'll click on the icon and get an hourglass for
a few seconds then just the cursor. When I re-boot the computer I get a
ccSvcHst program needsto end click to end program now. I did a search on
ccSvcHst and found a program that said my regestry was corrupted and
several other broken link problems and for another 20 bux they'll fix it
for me.

I contacted Norton and after a few minutes they blew away the copy of
Norton saying it must be corrupted. They re-loaded the product and Outlook
worked fine for a while.I could open and close with no problems. However,
when I let the computer set for a while the sameproblem happened again.
Outlook won't open and when I re-boot I get the ccSvcHst error again.

Anything I can do short of buying another product to fix the first product
I bought?

Regards,

Rick

Bummer. Norton is junk; has been for a long time. I made the mistake of
getting Norton Systemworks 2003, only to have the Norton System Doctor blow
up on my system. When the year subscription of Norton AV was up, I wanted
nothing to do with their version of "Product Aggravation", so I uninstalled
it, and went with AVG. Aside from switching to Avast on the newer computers,
I have not looked back.

Norton is a waste of money, and I don't recommend it to those whose
computers I maintain.

Norton strikes again. Getting rid of Norton will go a very very long way to solving your Outlook issue at present and not to mention other issues which will come since Norton is very good at playing hide and seek.

Thanks for the input. I'll see if Norton will give me my money back. Maybe
I can just cancel the payment on my credit card.
