After installing a westell modem "Ethernet" Windows messenger would
not work. I went back to "launchmodem" and enabled remote access and
it worked, but I noticed it said after 20 min. inactivity or reboot
remote access would be disabled. Does remote access need to be enabled
for Win messenger to work? I sat up a new PC for a friend and
installed same modem but his win messenger will not work. No voice ,
typing is fine. I have checked all I know to check. Could you give me
a check list to perform? His mic. works.

Thanks

OliverK

I have a simular problem... I can hear voice quit well from the remote side. However they are unable to hear me. We send text very nicely... I checked out my microphone and speakers - everything passes diagnostics. I'm able to use my microphone to record .WAV files... so I want to think its all pluged in well... windows messenger shows a graphic display for microphone signal... and thatz jumping around for me... I also have a a graphic display for speaker signal - and that seems to be working ok

I've had my pal on the remote side check his firewall settings... he's allowing my IP address..

What else should/can be checked?
