Installed MSN Messenger 6.1. Great features. Have no
problem being seen or seing a webcam. However cannot get
my audio out, nor get anyone else's in. Have killed my
firewall and Windows XP firewall...no change. Have run
the audio test in Messenger...everything fine there. I
also have a router. I took that out...no change. There
is no problem communicating with sound when using Windows
XP Messenger. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

After some investigating, I learned that you have to
enable plug and play on your computer as well. Here are
the instructions. Works like a charm now.

1. Click on the Start button, then select the Control
Panel.

2. After the "Control Panel" load's, click on Add or
Remove Programs.

3. When the "Add or Remove Programs" window opens,
click on Add/Remove Windows Components.

4. The "windows Components Wizard" window should open,
scroll down the list and click on Networking Services,
then click on the Details... button.

5. When the "Networking Services" window opens, check
the option for Internet Gateway Device Discovery and
Control Client, then check the option for Universal Plug
and Play.

6. Click OK, then Next, and when the wizard finishes,
click Finish

All of the above problems I had too with Windows & MSN Messenger: Text O.K.,
but no sound and Web cam contacts possible with anyone. I run XP Pro.
Service Pack 1 and have ADSL and I have ZoneAlarm in stealth mode. Since I
got no help here I installed Yahoo! Messenger and everything works. But of
course I'd love to use MSN Messenger because many friends use it
successfully. Noeone has a clue why it doesn't work with my system.
