Remember the hard drive Ian put on bargains post... and then I put the US version... well they came in the mail last night. One of the hardrives is bummed...

Originally wanted the drive to be an external drive.. so I got an enclosure and the Western Digital Caviar 320 GB 7200 rpm Ultra IDE. Well at first I thougt is was a bummed enclosure because the lights were not working and pc would never recognise it. So I removed it from enclosure and installed it as slave to the pc. It didn't work there either.. I got really fed up... installed the drive stand alone and tried installing an OS...nothing....

Well I've sent in the request for RMA of the drive... the enclosure works great though... would you beleive I took a Quantam Fireball drive from my old Gateway 2000 and plugged it into the enclosure and poof... instantly recogonised.... no need to even format it. That means I could have booted Win98se from the enclosure. Wonderful device.. I may write the review... still playing with it. For Win Xp complet plug and play.. no drivers needed. Came with a driver cd for 98.

I buy 99% of my stuff from Newegg and haven't had a problem.
Could have been rattled around too much during shipping, or just a bad drive from the manufacturer.

In this case, is it not the drive that has failed, and not newegg?

I'm not defending them, but as I used to work in retail, it did annoy me when I heard people saying things like "dont buy stuff in there, he sells junk" when one out of a batch of 300 items turned out to be faulty

Blame the item, not the seller

(of course.... having said that, you have not got the new drive yet)

er.... Right, now what was the question again?

Ahhh I have no worries..... I'm actually not that mad... Its the first time that I've recieved a bad product from them... so I guess I meant that they failed to keep me 100% satisfied... at about 95% satisfied.. got my RMA number but I think I have to pay the shipping. Thats not cool. Oh yea.. and they were a day late shipping it in the first place... very much not like them.

All the feedback I've seen from Americans using Newegg is actually quite good, I've read very little negative stuff about them.

I also understand they're quite good with rma's, so good luck.

Actually once bought an ATI 8500 from them myself, via a guy in Austin, TX. They were new then and I actually saved about a hundred quid by buying from the States. Good eh?

Yes CS... Newegg is the only company I use as well....and you know what...now that I come to think about it I don't think it was thier fault at all... I used UPS this time instead of FedEx... first time using the newer service.. definatley not pleased. So I take back the bad on NewEgg's part... still a shame I have to pay shipping for the RMA ... but definatley going to use FedEx...from now on.
