1 XP Home machine, 1 W2K machine. I cannot run the XP Network setup wizard on
the 2K box. Both machines have the same workgroup name.

I can see the XP machine from the 2K box, but cannot access any shared
folders. I can't see the 2K box from XP.

Help?

What am I missing?

1. Make sure all firewalls are configured to allow lan traffic as
trusted. If you have SP2 on XP Home, it automatically enables the
Windows Firewall. If you are not running a third-party firewall, go to
the Windows Firewall applet in Control Panel and enable File & Printer
Sharing on the Exceptions tab. If you are using a third-party firewall
(and have properly configured it to allow your lan traffic as Trusted),
then turn the Windows Firewall off. You don't want two firewalls
running, and a third-party program will be better than the WF.

2. Create identical user accounts/passwords on both machines.

3. Create shares as desired and go into the Sharing properties to make
sure permissions as set for Everyone. XP Home cannot share its My
Documents or Program Files. Use the Shared Files folder instead.

4. Here are some links to help you, including a network troubleshooter
by MVP Hans-Georg Michna. If you take the time to go through it, it
will pinpoint the source of any problems.
