I'm looking at putting together a new system soon and have come up with the
following specs:

Windows XP Home Edition OEM
Intel P4 3GHz (800MHz FSB)
ASUS P4P800 Deluxe
Antec Sonata case
512Mb Corsair TwinX XMS DDR400/PC3200LLPT
IBM Deskstar 180GXP 120Gb (7200rpm, Ultra ATA/100)
Sony 1.44Mb FDD
128Mb ATI Radeon 9800 Pro video card
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS PCI sound card
LiteOn 52x25x52 CDR/W burner
Pioneer 16X DVD ROM DVD-117 (tray)
US Robotics V.92 Faxmodem PCI
Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0

Does it all look good, or would you do things differently? Is there anything
missing that I haven't considered? btw I will be reusing k/b and monitor from
our old pc.

Are there any snags with getting XP OEM?
Would the PSU that comes with the Sonata have enough juice for future
expansion? (it uses a 380W PSU)

I'll be ordering all the stuff online, and probably most through newegg and
zipzoomfly, since they seem to have the best prices. Any opinions on
these online stores?

Why not get the P4P800 -E?

You can get the 52x32x52x model for the same kind of money.

Might be wiser, for the longer term to get a 430W PSU.

I'm holding off for now and just using the monitor from our current computer
(which our new one will replace). I would like to get a decent 19" eventually
though.

I got XP Home OEM for about $85 with a new hard drive from newegg.
XP Home is great once you remove all the bells and whistles. I use classic view.
Plenty of XP Tweak sites to tweak the OS.

Think about how you intend to backup the system.
Nice to get all the drivers loaded, tweak XP, load basic 'core' software,
and save an image file to a spare partition then register XP.
Use NTFS 4k cluster size in case you want to use image software for backups.

board, I'm inclined to go for that instead.
