Network won't work when hub is changed.

We have a network running Exchange 5.5 and an 8 port switch/hub It is
correctly wired using cat5 cable. The only problem is the hub is only 10Mb.

If we swap the hub for a 10/100 cable for cable it just stops working and we
have no network at all. We have tried 3 different hubs with the same result.

Is there something simple that we have overlooked?

If part of your cabling is marginal then some of the adapters may
negotiate a transmission rate of 100 MBits/s even though they
cannot sustain it reliably. Forcing them to 10 MBbits/s will resolve
the issue temporarily. Ultimately you may have to rewire part of
your network.
