Network Print Port Disappears after reboot

I'm using a print server for a HP LJ 3330 & a HP PSC 750.
Everything works great on my desktop running XP
Professional until I reboot. Once I reboot, the 2
network print port for the printers disappeared. I've no
trouble on my notebook also running XP Pro. The only
difference I could see is initially I had the printers
directly connected to my desktop and it had automatically
created the print ports DOT4_002 and DOT4_001 for each
printer. The system now will not let me delete these
ports. I don't have these printer ports on my notebook.

However at the office, we have the same setup and we
don't have this problem on the computer that we initially
direct connect the printer to the desktop.

Thanks in advance.
